|Captain David Povero|
Captain David Povero is a 25+ year veteran of the Covina Police Department, promoted to the rank of Captain in 2011 and currently assigned to oversee the Administrative Division. Captain Povero has extensive experience in Patrol and Investigative operations, including : Special Response Team (SRT), Crimes Against Persons, Robbery & Homicide, Sexual Assaults and Juvenile investigations. Captain Povero is project manager for the ongoing technological advancements underway at the department.
Captain Povero was promoted to police lieutenant in 2010 and managed patrol shifts and the department’s traffic and parking units. Captain Povero was promoted to police sergeant in 2000. As a police sergeant he was team leader of the department’s special response team, Area D mutual aid team, investigations bureau, crime prevention and internal affairs supervisor. He also served as the fleet manager for the department’s fleet of vehicles.
Captain Povero holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Management from Azusa Pacific University. He is a graduate of the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigations, Peace Officer's Standards & Training Executive Development program, Police Management program and the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, Class 220. He is currently enrolled in California's P.O.S.T. Command College; a premier futures-based executive development program that focuses on the opportunities and issues on the emerging horizon.
Captain Povero is the recipient of the 1998 Police Officer of the Year Award, Medal of Merit and Distinguished Service Medal, and has received several citations for exemplary service.
