Field Training Officer David Rodriguez was hired September 7, 2004. He attended the Rio Hondo Police Academy. Once he completed the academy and field training, he was assigned to patrol where he worked for several years until he was assigned as one of two Special enforcement Team (SET) Officers. As a SET officer, FTO Rodriguez investigated drug and gang related crimes as well as special details. FTO Rodriguez returned to patrol after his two year SET assignment ended and began his present assignment as a Field Training Officer. FTO Rodriguez is also a member of the department Special Response Team and an arrest and control instructor for the department. FTO Rodriguez has been recognized by the California Association of Tactical Officers as the "SWAT Officer of the Year". He has also recieved the Covina Police Department Medal of Valor.
Evidence Clerk Vera Latreille was hired on June 15, 2009. Prior to coming to Covina PD, Vera worked as an evidence clerk for the El Monte Police Department. As an Evidence Clerk, Vera is responsible for inventorying, cataloging and storing evidence and property held by the department. She also assists with the assessment and purging of evidence and property in accordance with applicable laws. Vera is a valuable resource to department personnel and has assisted them by providing information and professional contacts. Her assistance has lead to additional criminal charges being filed in several cases.
