Donate To Your Library! PDF Print E-mail

Do you have books, CD's, DVD's, or audio books that you no longer use? The Covina Public Library is happy to accept good quality material donations on an appointment basis!

Material donations provide an important source of growth, enrichment and funding for the Library. Material donations assist the Library in adding important titles to the collection, meeting the demand for multiple copies of popular titles, and and often serve as replacements for lost or damaged materials. If donations are not suitable for the collection, they will be used in other ways to support the Second Start Literacy Program and The Friends of the Covina Public Library.

If you have materials you would like to donate, please call (626) 384-5297 to schedule a drop-off. Drop-off appointments are available Tuesday-Saturday, 9 am- 12:45 pm.

While the Library appreciates all donations, there are specific guidelines for donating materials. Materials must be in good condition, free of odor, mold, bugs, damage, etc. Materials must be in clean paper/plastic bags or boxes.

Help Struggling Readers Get a Second Start

Readers get a Second Start through the Covina Public Library's Second Start Literacy Program which helps students succeed in several areas. Through our literacy services, adult learners have acquired the necessary English and reading skills which in turn have enabled them to pass exams such as the Citizenship Test and the Certified Nursing Assistant Test. Second Start also provides the tools our students need to be successful in higher education programs at local colleges and universities. In addition, our literacy services have helped students obtain better jobs. Some of our recent successes include D. Nicolopaulou, who received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certification; Lydia L., who passed her Citizenship Test; and S. Kang; who was accepted to Western University’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program. The Literacy Program currently serves 61 adults and 36 children with 29 tutors.

Through the Literacy Program and its tutors, my son Jody Iniguez once a struggling student, has excelled in Reading and Writing. Thanks to the program, Jody is now among one of the top students in his class, his reading and writing scores are ranked the highest in his class. I want to thank everyone involved in making the tutoring program such a useful resource.”
