This annual festival is beaming green with a Farmer’s Market, Guacomole contest, the Art of the Avocado contest and the Best Decorated Avocado Contest. A wide variety of avocado products, arts and crafts vendors and food booths are found all along the festival streets. An extraordinary array of avocado dishes ranging from traditional guacamole to avocado chips to avocado pie! Moderate to extensive walking and prolonged sitting.

Cozily tucked away at the base of the foothills in the charming community of Sierra Madre is the Four Seasons Tea Room. You will be served Afternoon Tea with scrumptious sandwiches, delightful desserts and scones baked to order. Go back to your favorite spot or find a new one at Old Town Pasadena. In Old Town you will find a pedestrian friendly area with ecletic shops, outdoor cafes and a chance to find the one thing you can’t live without! Moderate to extensive walking and some prolonged sitting.

Highland Springs in Cherry Valley, with its rustic charm and historic character is surrounded by sprawling olive groves, fields of fragrant lavender fields and a 1,100-year old towering Coastal Live Oak tree. The natural beauty of its 2,400 acres of virtually untouched land is still being shared with visitors at the Annual Lavender Festival. Enjoy classical music, guided tours, the organic market place, horsedrawn hayrides, aromatherapy workshops, lectures and more. Don’t miss the lavender inspired cuisine, such as lavender lemonade, ice cream, lattes and more. Festival activites on your own. Moderate to extensive walking and some prolonged sitting.

Celebrate Indepedence Day at the Bowl with patriotic music and thrilling fireworks! Bring a picnic or purchase dinner on your own before the show. Moderate to extensive walking and prolonged sitting and standing. Registration begins February 2, 2015.

To register or for more information, please call or come by the Parks & Recreation Department, 1250 N. Hollenbeck Avenue, Covina, (626) 384-5340. Office hours are Monday-Thursday and alternate Fridays, 10 am-5:45 pm. Deluxe motor coaches and professional drivers are used on all trips. Preregistration is required for all trips.

  1. Registration is accepted by phone (with Visa/Mastercard only), by mail and in person on an equal basis. Priority is not given to any one method of registration.
  2. Payment must be made at the time of registration. Spaces will not be held without payment.Cash, checks (made payable to “City of Covina”), and credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are accepted.
  3. If all seats are sold, a waiting list will be established.
  4. Trips are subject to change without notice.
  5. Trips may be cancelled due to low registration.
  6. Participants must be at least 6 years of age, and if under age 18, must be accompanied by an adult.
  7. All trips leave from and return to 1250 N. Hollenbeck Avenue.
  8. Trips go rain or shine.
  9. No smoking allowed on the bus.
  10. Special services (wheelchair accessibilty) must be requested 30 days before trip.
  11. A $25 service fee will be charged for all returned checks, (NSF, closed account, or stopped payment).
