The Covina Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit is responsible for working in the community to build a working partnership between the community and the Police Department. The purpose of the unit is to utilize this partnership to identify and solve problems within the community. The Crime Prevention unit is responsible for educating the residents of our community in the area of Crime Prevention. We offer Burglar Alarm Information, Safety Tips for home owners, business owners and apartment owners through various programs such as; Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, and the Citizens Police Academy.
The Crime Prevention Unit also manages our Police Volunteers. The volunteers assist in the Police Department with Patrol, Clerical and Graffiti Abatement.
Neighborhood Watch: Neighborhood Watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce neighborhood fear. Members of Neighborhood Watch learn how to make their homes more secure, by working with the Police Department and utilizing crime prevention techniques. Furthermore, members watch out for each other and the neighborhood by reporting suspicious activities to the Police. Neighborhood Watch meetings are held at residents' homes and are facilitated by a Covina Police Department, Community Services Specialist.
For additional information on Covina’s Neighborhood Watch Program, or to schedule a Neighborhood Watch meeting in your neighborhood, call Community Services Specialist Candace Bobkiewicz (626) 384-5630.
Please report suspicious activity (anything that looks, or sounds like it can be associated with criminal activity) to the Covina Police Department immediately. While some "suspicious activities" may have innocent explanations, the Covina Police Department would rather investigate a crime prone situation than be called when it is too late. For emergencies dial 9-1-1, or non-emergency (626) 384-5808.
