This is the City of Covina's 31st annual observance of Red Ribbon Week and we are proudly supporting the philosophy that "It takes parents, city government, and the school districts to increase public awareness and to support and educate our youth being drug-free."   
National "Coffee with a Cop Day" 2016 Join Covina Officers for National "Coffee with a Cop" Day on October 7, 2016 Mon, 10/03/2016 On October 7, 2016 between 7 am and 9 am, officers from the Covina Police Department will be hosting a "Coffee with a Cop" event the downtown Starbucks located at 145 N. Citrus Avenue in the City of Covina. "Coffee with a Cop" brings police officers and the community members together over coffee to informally discuss issues and learn more about each other. We look forward to seeing you at the event and discussing the issues that are important to you.

Chief John Curley Covina Captain John Curley Announced as New Covina Chief of Police Thu, 09/15/2016 On September 15, 2016, Interim City Manager Don Penman announced that Covina Police Department Captain John Curley has been selected as the new Chief of Police for the City of Covina. Captain Curley will replace Chief of Police Kim Raney, who will retire on October 13, 2016 after 39 years of service with the City of Covina, 16 years of which were as the Chief of Police.

Animal License Canvassing Efforts by LA County Animal Care and Control Wed, 09/14/2016 Officers from the Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) will be in the City of Covina in October and November, 2016, checking for current rabies vaccinations, ensuring residents are in compliance with licensing requirements. Securing a dog license is an important part of identification and can assist animal control agencies if your pet becomes lost. Proposed Covina Forward Development informational meeting is September 10, 2016 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Thu, 09/08/2016 On Saturday September 10, 2016 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, officials from Foothill Transit, the City of Covina and the Covina Police Department will sharing information regarding the "Covina Forward Development" that is being proposed on the former Kmart site  located on the N/E corner of Citrus Avenue and Covina Boulevard.  The meeting will be held in the parking lot of the Hindu Temple,  located at 177 E. Covina Boulevard in the City of Covina, and project personnel will be at the meeting to answer any of your questions.
Covina Police Chief Kim Raney Announces Retirement Thu, 09/01/2016 After 39 years of service with the Covina Police Department, including 15 years as Chief of Police, Kim Raney has announced his plans to retire in October 2016.
The passing of retired Covina Fire Chief James H. Murphy Sun, 08/28/2016 After a long illness, retired Covina Fire Department Chief James H. Murphy passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2016 at the age of 81. Chief Murphy retired in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Covina. On Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M., the Los Angeles County Fire Department will honor and remember Chief Murphy with a Flag Ceremony at Los Angeles County Fire Station #154, located at 400 N. Citrus Avenue in the City of Covina. 
National Night Out 2016 is August 2 Mon, 07/18/2016 Tuesday, August 2, 2016, will mark the 18th year that the City of Covina Police Department will participate in National Night Out.  National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
Fireworks are NOT permitted within the Covina city limits Wed, 06/29/2016 With the 4th of July weekend upon us, we would like to remind you that fireworks are NOT permitted anywhere within the Covina city limits. This includes those fireworks that are considered "Safe and Sane."  The fine for being in possession, manufacturing, selling or discharging fireworks without a valid permit or license has been increased to $1000.  The Covina Police Department will be actively patrolling and those found in violation of the ordinance may be arrested and/or cited for the offense and the fireworks will be seized.    
The "Grand Opening" of the Covina Metrolink Station “Bike Hub” is Thursday May 19th Wed, 05/18/2016 The City of Covina’s “Bike Hub” located in the Covina Metrolink Station parking lot will open for business on May 19, 2016 starting at 7:30 AM. The “Bike Hub” is a brand new amenity offered by the City of Covina and provides a securely controlled environment for commuters to store their bicycles while they are traveling on the transit system. The “Bike Hub” can hold up to 40 bicycles and those who use the facility will also have access to an on-site restroom.

Covina Community Senior Center Mon, 03/07/2016 The many years of service have weathered the Joslyn Center, and it has served our senior population well.  The safety and wellbeing of our entire community have always been of the highest importance but the Center has now been determined to be uninhabitable and it is cost prohibitive to attempt to rehabilitate it.  Due to these events, Covina’s Community & Senior Center has been temporarily relocated to Valleydale Park Community Center located in the City of Azusa.
