Renew My Materials
Renew items by logging into your library account using your library card barcode and the PIN set at registration.

Get a Card
Fill out the online application and then visit the library to receive your card.
Patrons must show a current photo ID. If the address on the ID is not current, provide proof of current address (utility bill, vehicle registration, etc.).
Borrower Guidelines
Library cards must be renewed every 2 years by verifying contact information on account.
Checkout Periods:
- Books/Audiobooks/Magazines – 21 days
- DVDs – 7 days
Each Library Card allows up to 25 items to be borrowed at a time with the following limits:
- Audiobooks – 5
- DVDs – 5
- Readalouds (Wonderbooks) – 2
Fines and Fees:
- Late Book/Audiobook/Magazine – $0.25/day
- DVDs – $1,00/day
- Lost or Damaged item – full replacement cost
ZIP BOOKS – This service allows adult Library patrons to request books and audiobooks that are not in the current Covina Public Library catalog. If approved, the item will be delivered directly to your home via Amazon Prime for a 3-week check out. Children & Families
The Library offers a variety of programs and services for the entire family. Visit the library today to browse physical materials collections including themed picture books, children’s fiction and graphic novels, children’s non-fiction, magazines, media items, and a large easy reader section geared towards emerging readers. The library also carries materials for parents and caregivers on child development and parenting.

The library encourages teens to utilize both the library space and collections to read, learn and interact with peers. The Young Adult materials collection includes current, relevant and engaging materials for teens including popular fiction series, graphic novels, and non-fiction.

Literacy Services
Adult Literacy Program
Funded in part by the California Library Literary Services and the Community Development Block Grant. The program provides free tutoring for adults to improve their skills and reach their goals.
Programs offered include English Skills for Success, Citizenship Preparation, ESL, and conversation classes. Contact the Library for information and registration.
Family Literacy
Literacy is a family affair! Special programs include family-friendly activities, crafts, and giveaways.
Family Literacy programs are for families with at least one member enrolled in California Library Literacy Services or include an adult with low literacy skills who is eligible to enroll for services. Contact the Library for information and registration.
Interested in Volunteering?
If you are interested in helping to support the Covina Public Library literacy programs with a long-term commitment, please email covinalibrary@covinaca.gov with “Literacy Volunteer” in the subject. All training is provided, no experience necessary. All volunteers are required to undergo fingerprinting and a TB test.

WiFi
The Covina Public Library offers free wifi throughout the library’s open hours.

In compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), internet filtering software is used on the Library’s public access computers and wireless network.
Please note: limited charging outlets are available on a first come, first served basis.

One hour of computer access per day is free with a Covina Public Library card.

Access the Southern California Digital Library
Use your library card to access hundreds of eBooks and eAudiobooks available in the Southern California Digital Library via the Libby app. You can download the Libby app, available for iOS and Android, or visit the SCDL website. You may check-out up to 10 items at a time for 21 days.

Assistance is available 24/7 in several languages, including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog by certified tutors. The SkillSurfer Learning Library features an opportunity to brush up on a variety of skills as well as college entrance exam prep (SAT/ACT) and ASVAB, plus resources for technology assistance and English Language Learners.
Brainfuse VetNow features local and national resources for military veterans, such as education, healthcare and benefits, employment and housing information; live resume and job interview coaching; and live expert assistance. Use your Covina Library card to log in.
Coursera offers nearly 7,000 courses and certifications designed to help individuals build the skills necessary to thrive in today’s job market. Coursera partners with many top companies, including Apple, IBM, and Google to design programs that will prepare people for entry-level jobs within their respective companies. Popular courses include data analytics, project management, digital marketing, and cybersecurity.
GetSetUp is a community for adults 50+ to engage in free live online classes to keep them mentally, physically, and socially active. Topics include technology, financial planning, health and fitness, cooking, and travel.
LearningExpress Library offers exam preparation and courses in a variety of areas, including air traffic control, nursing, teaching, and other career pathways. It also offers GED, CBEST, CSET, citizenship, and graduate school exam prep, and features tools for job seeking, resume builders, and interview skills.
Want to brush up on your current skills or learn new ones? Try a class through Linkedin Learning! LinkedIn Learning offers over 17,000 courses and certificates can be earned and displayed on your LinkedIn profile!
Users can take free assessments to determine their digital literacy in a variety of areas, including computer skills, software skills, Information Literacy, and operating systems. Results are available immediately and notes which areas may need brushing up on. Each assessment also features lessons on the topic to build knowledge in that area.

The Online Archive of California is maintained by the Universities of California (UC system) and offers free public access to detailed descriptions of many primary resource collections from libraries, special collections, archives, museums, and more throughout California.
Enjoy reading magazines and newspapers? Get unlimited access to more than 7,000 of the world’s top newspapers and magazines as soon as they’re available on shelves. Click Sign In, then search for and select Covina Public Library. You will need your library card number and PIN number to log in. Contact the library if you need your PIN number.
Read the New York Times for free! Access includes all newspaper content and multimedia. Additionally, it can be customized to each individual’s needs, such as breaking news, local news, and more. New access codes must be redeemed every three days.

LearningExpress Library offers a variety of exam preparation and courses including practice exams for the civics test portion of naturalization interviews.
Would you like to learn English or learn more about becoming a U.S. citizen? USA Learns is for you! Practice your English in a variety of ways, including speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. The U.S. Citizenship course takes learners step-by-step through the process and includes a review of the application, preparing for the interview, and civics, reading, and writing practice.
