The City of Covina is currently in the feasibility phase of a long-term planning effort for a future pedestrian bridge in the downtown area. The proposed bridge would provide additional access to the anticipated Covina Recreation Village (640-680 N Citrus Avenue) and the Covina Metrolink Commuter Train Station (600 N Citrus Avenue) by crossing the existing rail line at 319 E Front Street. Further information regarding the concept’s current status and its connection to the Recreation Village project is provided below:

Just steps from the Covina Metrolink Station, at 640-680 N Citrus Avenue, the Covina Recreation Village is the City’s largest public improvement project currently underway and is expected to open to the public in late 2026. Back in 2020, the property was speculated on by a private developer for proposed transit-oriented housing as part of a larger housing development project. Through a collaborative, public-private partnership, the City and developer (Trumark Homes) identified this 2.49-acre portion of the site as suitable for a public amenity rather than a residential development. Formerly home to a citrus packinghouse facility, it is being adaptively redeveloped into a public park, gymnasium, community plaza, and library center. The Village will feature the City’s first indoor gymnasium, complete with volleyball and basketball courts, as well as the City’s first rock climbing wall. Outdoor amenities include a new dog park, a refreshment kiosk, seating and rest areas, and a network of pathways and playgrounds.
